I told myself to relax and that I’ve got this. To my surprise, I had the same 5 skills again including the dreadful bp. He seemed very intimidating while the other evaluator did make you feel more comfortable. I went back to the same test center but there was a different evaluator. I reviewed and practiced the other 21 skills until my brain hurt and felt ready. A nurse at the hospital where I work as a patient sitter (who is also my team lead) set aside time with me to practice and give me pointers. I watched YouTube videos, practiced doing a blood pressure on a few people. I saw an earlier date a few weeks later and decided to move the exam up. I rescheduled to take the exam a second time and the next available date was about 2 months out. I was very upset for about a week but pulled myself together. I wish I was able to know how far off from the evaluators reading. The first time I failed was due to the incorrect BP reading. I was going to dump the fluid from the graduate (in the commode/toilet- the appropriate location) and the RN Test Observer came up behind me and asked me to wait a moment because she forgot to measure it beforehand. I think the nurse examiner made a mistake. During this time, I found employment as a laboratory technician and I worked in this capacity for two years before beginning nursing school. I then went on to volunteer with the US FWS for a few months in their bacteriology/virology labs. I had four years of classes with lab components (Biology/Genetics/A&P/Chem I&II/Organic Chem/Etc.). I find it very difficult to believe that I misread a graduate given my background.īefore I went to nursing school I was a biology student. That is the ONLY portion that I apparently missed. The nurse observer marked that I had misread the graduate within 25 mL of what she read. I took my CNA state test in Wisconsin yesterday.
